Giulio Macaione is an Italian artist born in Catania in 1983; he grew up in Palermo and lives in Bologna.
He has written and illustrated many works, including: Basilicò (2016), Stella di mare (2018), Alice: From Dream to Dream (2018)—selected by the New York Public Library as one of the best children’s books of the year—F***ing Sakura (2020), Scirocco (2021)—named best Italian graphic novel of the year by Robinson (La Repubblica) and soon to be published by Liana Editorial—, the Simulacri series, written by Marco Bucci and Eleonora Caruso (2022–2023), Fées des Sixties – Les Disparitions d’Imbolc, written by Jul Maroh (2023), and Tutte le volte che sono diventato grande (2025, All the Times I Grew Up, Liana Editorial, 2026).
He collaborates with DC Comics, for which he illustrated the story Spaces, written by Phil Jiménez (in DC Pride 2024), winner of the Eisner Award for Best Short Story.
His works have been translated into several countries. He teaches at the International School of Comics in Reggio Emilia.
