Maurillo (Milo) Manara

Maurilio (Milo) Manara was born on 12 December 1945 in Italy. A multidisciplinary artist and an internationally renowned comic book artist, he published his first comic while studying architecture in Venice.
He gained recognition in the 1970s for works such as Monkey King (written by Silverio Pisu), the adventures of Giuseppe Bergman and L'Uomo delle Nevi (The Snowman - written by Alfredo Castelli), and collaborated with Hugo Pratt on Indian Summer (1983) and El Gaucho (1995).
He achieved worldwide fame with the erotic comic series Click (1983), which was adapted for cinema. Manara has collaborated with American publishers Marvel and DC Comics, as well as producing solo works such as the biography Caravaggio, and works in collaboration with scriptwriters such as Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Borgias), Neil Gaiman (Sandman) and Chris Claremont (X-Men: Gals on the Run). Lumen publishes his graphic adaptation of Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose.
