Javier Mariscal (Valencia, 1950) is an illustrator and designer of international fame, winner of the National Design Award in 1999.

Known for being the creator of Cobi, the mascot of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, he has exhibited his work at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, the documenta exhibition in Kassel, the MoMA, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the IVAM and the MACBA.

Together with Fernando Trueba, he presents They Shot the Piano Player. The collaboration between the two artists after their first film Chico & Rita, an animated film also adapted into a graphic novel winner of the Goya for Best Animated Film that also received an Oscar nomination in the same category and won the European Film Award.
