Mateo Guerrero (La Línea, Cádiz, 1976) is a comic book artist and visual storyteller. From a young age, he knew he wanted to tell stories through drawing. This led him to study education at the University of Cádiz (UCA) and graphic design and art direction at CEADE, all the while developing his artistic language.
He began publishing in the 1990s in the magazine Otaku and with Camaleón Ediciones. He is part of a generation of authors who incorporated manga influences into Spanish comics. He received his first recognition with Crónicas de Mesene (Mesene Chronicles), a fantasy series that marked the beginning of his professional career.
After collaborating with El País, Guerrero started working for the U.S. market at DreamWave Productions. He then found his natural home as an author in Franco-Belgian comics.
He has spent much of his career in France and Belgium, publishing with Les Humanoïdes Associés and Le Lombard. There, he created works such as Beast, Turo, for which he handles both the script and art, and Gloria Victis, which has been translated into several languages.
His most recent work, El Bosque del Tiempo (The Forest of Time - 2022), reinforces a career marked by exploring fantasy worlds and searching for narrative identity within European comics.
