Edward Ross is a comic book artist, scriptwriter and illustrator based in Edinburgh. He has collaborated on numerous graphic outreach projects for universities, museums, charities and research institutions, using the language of comics to make cultural and academic content accessible to the public. Passionate about cinema and comics from a young age, he combined his interests after graduating with a degree in Film Studies by creating a self-published theoretical fanzine. This led to his first book, Filmish (2015; Reservoir Books, 2017), which was a critical and commercial success in the United Kingdom. It won the 2017 YALSA award and has been translated into eight languages.
His next work, Gamish (2020; Reservoir Books, 2022), is an illustrated love letter to the history and culture of video games. In October 2024, Ross published Graphic Novel Builder: The Illustrated Guide to Making Your Own Comics (Reservoir Books, 2026), an illustrated, step-by-step guide to creating comics, winner of the 2025 Selkies Award for Best Graphic Novel. Ross currently teaches workshops on comic book creation and graphic storytelling and continues to develop works that combine education, creativity and fun.
