Thierry Terrasson (Niort, France, 1966), known internationally by the pseudonym Jim, is one of the most prominent contemporary European comic book authors. His work has played a key role in raising the profile of the graphic novel as a medium for emotional, narrative and cinematic exploration.
After training at the Angoulême School of Comics, he started his professional career as a storyboard artist at the Media 6 animation studio. This experience profoundly influenced his narrative style, which clearly draws on cinema. Since the 1990s, he has established himself as a unique voice, capturing the intimate, the everyday and the universal in his work, which focuses on human relationships, desire, memory and emotional fragility. This has made him a leading author in the field.
He has published over 90 graphic novels and comics, selling more than 1.2 million copies. His most notable titles include Une Nuit à Rome (A Night in Rome - winner of the Best Album award at the 2013 Nîmes International Comics Festival), Petites Éclipses (Small Eclipses - winner of the Golden Sheriff and Chambéry Award in 2007) and Une petite tentation (A Little Temptation - winner of the RTL Award in 2013). Several of his works have been adapted for film, including Une Nuit à Rome, co-written with Jacques Malaterre; L’invitation (The Invitation), directed by Michaël Cohen; and Petites Éclipses, adapted by Sylvain Monod.
He has also been very active as a screenwriter and director of short films, and is the author of several theatrical works, including a monologue and a play.
At Cartem Comics, we published Détox, an accessible and contemporary work about digital disconnection and emotional introspection. In 2026, we will be launching Zoé Carrington, a story of memory and nostalgia set against the backdrop of London's youth culture.
