Entrañas (Bowels) by María Lobato

Entrañas showcases the work created by María Lobato during her residency in Lyon as a recipient of the third edition of the Comic Barcelona Grant. The exhibition, which will be on view at 44 Comic Barcelona, offers a glimpse into the creative process and outcomes of this artistic and professional experience. It is the result of the exchange and research conducted during the grant.

Entrañas is a comic about the search for belonging and identity through the connection between the natural and supernatural worlds. The story follows Ende, a young woman who returns to her childhood home to clean it out and confront the remnants of her family’s past. Although she finds apparent calm in the village and in an old friendship, strange phenomena linked to the nearby forest soon occur. This mysterious setting leads her to discover unknown aspects of herself in an intimate, atmospheric experience about strangeness, transformation, and the need to find a place where she can be herself.
