MAD MAX A COMIC TRIBUTE

DRAWN APOCALYPSE

Many of us have heard the sentence “this is so Mad Max”. Like it has happened with franchises such as Alien, Blade Runner, Seven or Matrix, the aesthetic and the apocalyptic world of the saga created by George Miller in 1979 has been imitated ad nauseam across the cultural and subcultural spectrum; the costume design, the vehicles, the settings and even the definition of the hero (cinema, fashion, literature, comics, games, video clips, art in general).

Framed in the new Utopia section, and close to the premiere of the film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in May, Comic BCN, in collaboration with Sitges Film Festival, will dedicate an exhibition to this intergenerational phenomenon that will bring together comic artists and illustrators from different generations. This exhibition will show the personal vision about the franchise of each author that will let us see the quality, variety, styles and sensitivity of our illustrators.

Natacha Bustos, Chema García, Rodrigo Zayas, Paco Roca, Klari Moreno, Víctor Santos, Olga de Castro, David Rubín, Kike Infame, Miguel Ángel Martín, Mikel Bao, David Lafuente, Paco Cavero, José Domingo, Miguel B. Núñez, Ata, Laurielle, Raquel Gu, Javi Rodríguez and Cels Piñol.

The exhibition, curated by Borja Crespo and Cels Piñol, is made up of the illustrations made for the Sitges Film Festival in 2019 (an exhibition already curated by Crespo himself), with new additions, posters and memorabilia of all kinds related to “Max... the warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything... and became a shell of a man...”

In addition, the collaboration with the Sitges Film Festival will also be enjoyed on the big screen with a fantastic film series in the auditorium.
